Sarah Broke It

How did I manage that? Have you met me?
Well… I figured it was time to update the WordPress blog.
But I didn’t check my notifications.
And I didn’t see that the webhost tried auto-upgrading 5 months earlier with catastrophic results, so they restored the site.
And I broke my site in trying to update my WordPress.
Now I’ve been meaning to deal with this issue for awhile - so I’m glad I did this.
So new WordPress site?
Their community has been having issues for awhile, and I’ve been pondering moving to a static site.
So breaking my site turned out to be a good thing. It forced me to revisit the static site generator.
Thankfully, I am on a documentation project for work. With that project, I’m using GitHub Pages. I’ve been able to see how to use GitHub Pages to host documentation and let me write without having to manage the site generator’s dependencies. I’m in heaven!
I’ll link to the post I wrote for work about making this choice once the page is live!
