It’s no secret that I’ve been using ChatGPT to help me with my work. And before any of you go – 😱 does your boss know you use ChatGPT? – yes, yes he does – in fact, he encourages it!
ChatGPT can be a great tool to help get past writer’s block and inspire you to think differently. Prompt engineering has been becoming popular as there becomes a rise in Large Language Models (LLMs) – such as ChatGPT, Bard, and LLaMa. Developer productivity with these LLMs is also becoming popular. I’m currently on my 2nd conference session review in the past couple months, and I’m seeing more submissions on prompt engineering and developer productivity.
Anyhow, I’m here to challenge the AI with my own spin. It’s no secret that I have watched Legally Blonde numerous times. I root for Elle Woods every step of the way. Being a woman in tech and an underdog at times, I get it. Also – spoiler alert – I don’t like Victor Garber’s character in the movie and have unfortunately seen that happen in tech as well. So even more rooting for Elle!
I recently did a webinar for work on Domain Storytelling. (If you want to have better conversations across silos at work, go check that out!) I really enjoy Domain Storytelling as a tool and am excited how it turned out.
How much do I love working with Domain Storytelling? I’ve been seeing how ChatGPT explains it. I recently gave ChatGPT this prompt:
Explain Domain Storytelling to me as if I were Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.
By the end of this, I am crying 😂 Check it out:
How accurate is ChatGPT in this case? Would I use this as-is for a blog post? Other than this post to show the original output, probably not. However, I do like how it brings in some of the things of the movie together.
I use ChatGPT as a starting point and edit it to where I need it. My friend Kevin used it to help anonymize his submission for a conference. Ardalis shows us how to pair program with ChatGPT. I’m going to keep using it and probably blog here more as I use it outside of work as well. I will also continue to challenge it by asking for descriptions of technical things as if I were Elle Woods to see where its limits lie.
Are you using ChatGPT? If so, how are you using it? If not, what has been holding you back? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
